Great Performances at the Met
The Metropolitan Opera presents modern opera masterpieces in an
entertaining, theatrical format—featuring some of the greatest
opera stars in the world. With several new productions in 2008,
the Met continues to build on its tradition of broadcasting performances
around the world to reach millions of opera fans.

Magic Flute
Dancing bears and flying birds are
all brought to life through director Julie Taymor's ingenious
use of puppetry. Conducted by beloved maestro James Levine,
this abridged version of Mozart's opera is sung in English by
a young cast that includes Nathan Gunn as Papageno and Erika
Miklósa as Queen of the Night.

Romeo et Juliette
Anna Netrebko as Juliette and Roberto
Alagna as Roméo ignite this Gounod opera based on Shakespeare’s
Romeo and Juliet. Plácido Domingo leads the

Russian soprano Anna Netrebko stars

Chinese composer Tan Dun's epic opera
features legendary tenor Plàcido Domingo as Emperor Qin,
the man who built the Great Wall and gave China its name. Chinese
