About KETC's Education Services

KETC has made a pledge to support quality education in the region by providing critically needed resources to educators, parents and children. From the caregiver of young children to the classroom teacher to the college student, KETC supports learners and educators with quality educational content delivered in ways that maximize the impact to the community. Using our broadcast airwaves is just the beginning. KETC is mobilizing new technologies, offering expert staff assistance, and creating hands-on resources to support learners of all levels in the St. Louis region.

The Results
KETC's commitment to education in the Greater St. Louis area is making a difference. Some of the many accomplishments to date include:

  •  100,000 children have attended a KETC workshop.
  •  1,000 workshops have been presented to parents, caregivers and educators.
  •  40,000 free books have been distributed to children and families.
  •  Over 500 area children send in stories every year to the Reading Rainbow Young Writers and  Illustrators Contest. In 2003, a local student was a winner at the national level.
  •  Over 20,000 parents and children attend the annual Arthur's Picnic in the Park, a free children's event  from KETC for the community.

In addition, KETC's education achievements have received both local and national attention. At the national level, KETC has been recognized by both the White House and Congress for our education efforts. Most recently, KETC was honored by Missouri 's lieutenant governor with an award from the Missouri Community Service Commission for our volunteer work with St. Louis ' Hispanic community.
