Asked Questions
What are the guidelines governing underwriting spots on
Channel 9?
KETC provides a visible, positive environment for your underwriting
announcements. Our underwriting availability is limited in number
to give maximum value and exposure. The tone, action and language
in each underwriting announcement is reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
In many cases underwriters are able to adapt their current creative
campaigns to public television without difficulty. Listed below are
the basic guidelines regarding announcements on our air.
Underwriting announcements may contain the following:
- Name
of company, sponsor and accompanying logo.
- Sponsor
location, including street address, telephone number and Internet
address.
- Description
of product lines or service.
- Product demo, business location
or other supporting images.
- Corporate theme lines (with
documentation of use in other communications).
- Consumers
appearing using the client's product(s).
- Animated logo
or thematic music (no lyrics).
Underwriting announcements may not contain the following:
- Specific call to action and/or deadlines.
- Comparative, qualitative or superlative
action, language or images.
- Pricing information, rates, discounts
or fees.
- No actors speaking throughout, i.e., testimonials.
- Overall tone should
not be overtly promotional.
Please speak with your KETC account representative for consultation
in creating your underwriting announcement.
