History

In the past decade, Grand Oak Hill and nearby Tower Grove Heights have experienced a rebirth. Most of the credit for this can be given to the community's devoted residents who have been buying and renovating property surrounding their homes. Tower Grove Heights is recognized as a National Historic District and has been featured in Realtor magazine.

The site currently known as Grand Oak Hill was originally purchased in 1805. Throughout the 1800s the land provided coal and clay deposits and became home to a mining and manufacturing company. Much of the land remained rural until the late 1890s and early 1900s, when one of Grand Oak Hill's first subdivisions, Tower Grove Heights, began to develop.
